Viral infection and how badly it can impact your health?

Viruses are small genetic materials, usually DNA and RNA, that are surrounded by a layer of proteins. They are usually inactive unless they find a host body. They attack the host cells to replicate their copies. Although some viruses are good for our body, the majority of these pathogens result in viral infectionThese viruses hijack the living cells in our body and inject genetic material to replicate themselves, usually killing the cells of our body.

These viruses are highly harmful and can disable the proper functionality of our bodies. They affect us in many ways, from the common cold to HIV and Covid-19. The impact of viruses differs with their kind. They usually impact our respiratory system, brain, liver, skin and can often lead to cancer in extreme cases.

What Is A Virus?

The virus is a genetic material usually consisting of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or Ribonucleic acid (RNA). These particles are often covered in envelopes of fats and proteins. Under normal circumstances, these particles are unable to reproduce and are inactive unless they find a host body. The virus can be transmitted to humans and animals (hosts) in several different ways.

From airborne particles to getting in touch with a contaminated surface, they can enter our body in a variety of different ways. Once it’s inside our body, it activates and hijacks healthy cells. The microscopic spikes on the outer surface of the virus penetrate cells and hijack them to make their own copies. They infect and kill the cells while reproducing their copies and start a chain that results in infections.

What Is An Infection By Virus?

The process of virus proliferating inside the host body while reproducing itself is called an infection. These viruses hijack the machinery of host cells and kill them while reproducing. After sufficient copies are produced, it bursts into the body and infects more cells. The primary symptoms of these infections are caused due to damaged cells and tissues in the body. Moreover, when our immune system responds against this threat, the body of the host slows down. There are a variety of symptoms for such infections, but some of the common ones are

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Nausea
  • Stiff neck
  • Confusion
  • Rash
  • Vomiting

Some Common Infections

The spectrum of infections by viruses is wide; they come in a variety of forms and affect different parts of the body. From the respiratory system to the skin and gastro intestine, there is a wide range of infections with a high level of odds. Some of the common infections are.

How Do They Impact Health?

These viruses impact different parts of the body depending upon their nature. From most common infections impacting the lungs to effects on fetus and placenta. Here is everything you should know about the negative impacts of these viruses.

Respiratory Infections

These infections usually result in infectious wounds in the nose, upper airways, lungs, and lungs. In most severe situations, they can also result in lung failure due to excessive dead cells. These infections also make the elder and people with heart and lung issues more vulnerable. Severe fatigue and cold are also the ways this infection impacts.

Skin Infections

Talking about viral skin infections, they can cause rash and inflammation. In worst cases, these infections also result in warts and other sorts of outcomes. Other viruses such as rabies can also cause encephalitis and infect brain cells.

Food Infections

These viruses attack the gastrointestinal system and disable its functionality of the system. Some food infections such as hepatitis B also attack the liver and can result in liver failure.

STIs.

Sexually transmitted infections are highly dangerous as they can also uplift the chances of cervical cancer. At the lowest stage, it can also lead to developing genital warts along with infecting the fetus and placenta of women.
