How to Enjoy Holidays on Paxos with Children?

Paxos, a small island to the south of Corfu, is a popular holiday destination for families with children. Apart from being blessed with an abundance of greenery, the island possesses three small harbors and lots of beaches, which invite you to be in or near the blue waters of the Ionian Sea.

The absence of an airport and other big developments make Paxos a relatively unspoiled Greek island. In fact, this is no less than heaven for nature and peace lovers. At the same time, it is also one of the best places to visit with children during their holidays. Let’s take a look at the things you can see, visit, and do with children on Paxos.

Paxos Festival

The Paxos Festival is organized every year from late August till early September. During this time, internationally renowned artists display their talent, with music performances taking centre stage. Against a background of crystal clear water and with the cool breeze moving across the olive groves, this event is sure to boost anyone’s mood. This is a great opportunity to expose your children to culture in all its forms and shapes.

Take a sea taxi to Anti Paxos

Many Greek islands have a smaller ‘sister island’. So too is the case with Paxos, which finds its sibling Antipaxos only three kilometres away. With a population of only 20, this tranquil little island is great for a family day trip. Sea taxis leave from the harbour of Gaios and take about 15 minutes, passing the islet of Mongonissi on the way. Antipaxos is famous for its Caribbean colours and it has some great tavernas in which to sample the Greek food.

Visit Mongonissi Beach for water sports

Who doesn’t love water sports? Mongonissi Beach is a great place to get active on the water. Located five kilometers south of Galois, Mongonissi actually has two beaches. The transparent water is suitable for children of all age groups.

Staying in villas

Visiting Paxos is a great opportunity to stay in a villa instead of in a hotel. Paxos, and in particular Glyfada Beach Villas, is blessed with a great selection of romantic, breezy, and stylish holiday cottages and villas which are perfect for families. With direct access to two swimming pools, two beaches, and a tennis court, your children are sure to make new friends and be entertained all day.

Meanwhile, the parents can enjoy the beach or their private veranda with views of the Ionian Sea, or retreat to the cool villa for a well-deserved afternoon nap. Don’t forget to take the children to the on-site taverna, in which delicious Greek food is served several nights per week.

You will want to repeat

Besides the above activities, there are lots of other things to do on Paxos. Perhaps too many to fit into one holiday! There are tiny villages to visit, museums and churches, lots of little beaches to swim at and tavernas to try out. See you again next year?
