5 Home Remedies to Get Rid Of Tooth Cavities Naturally

While everything else is doing fine, have you ever gotten distracted by a hole in your teeth? Yes, I meant tooth cavity. It has become a common complaint and everyone has been through it at least once in their life. These holes are caused as a result of decay. A number of home remedies can help you out in treatment.

According to the best dentist in Lahore, a coat is usually formed on the teeth which is quite glutinous. This is commonly known as Plaque. The plaque can never be eliminated, it converts into a full-fledge cavity. There are certain points or places where the plaque can build very easily. These include:

  • Cracks and spaces in the teeth
  • Between 2 teeth
  • Near the gum line
  • Close to fillings that are chipped

As time goes by, the decay approaches the inner layer and this is when the cavity starts to form. There is a huge possibility to treat the cavity when it is in the pre-cavity stage using home remedies. However, it is necessary to visit your dentist regularly to keep yourself safe beforehand. Now, let’s look at home remedies.

  • Salt

Salt is one such food item that is never considered more than just an addition to the dishes. But it miraculously helps in the treatment of cavities. It is very popular because of its two properties. One is being the best antiseptic and the other is being antibacterial. These properties make it great to use against inflammation, treat infection, reduce pain and prevent the development of bacteria.

To use it, take a glass full of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt to1    it. Take a big sip and keep this water in your mouth for at least 1 minute. Keep it more on the side where your tooth is damaged and has cavities. You can also add a few drops of lemon and a pinch of mustard powder if you want to. You can do this 3 times a day for the best results.

  • Consume licorice root

Licorice is said to be one of the best antibacterial options. This property of licorice is very popular in targeting bacteria. A very funny but true study suggests that if you suck on a lollipop that is full of licorice there are very high chances that your teeth will be cured of the cavities.

But there is still research to be done, in order to know the exact implications of this. So, to recommend someone to consume lollipops just to cure cavities is still questionable.

  • Oil

A technique that has been in use since ancient times to cure any issue related to teeth is called oil pulling. In this technique, you fill your mouth with any oil, like coconut oil or almond oil, and let it sit in your mouth for a good 20 minutes. You can then spit it out. Sesame oil is said to work best with oil pulling. It is said that it removes the toxins from the mouth. It helps in the reduction of bacteria from the mouth, helps in removing plaque.

The chlorhexidine mouthwash is when compared with oil pulling using sesame oil shows the same results.

  • Use fluoride toothpaste

Fluoride is one such component that plays a huge role when it comes to preventing cavities. If you keep using fluoride toothpaste regularly you can see visible differences in your oral health as the risk of cavity production lessens.

If you start using fluoride toothpaste when you are young, it can show great results as you get older.

  •  Sugar-free candies and gums

After meals, if you chew on sugar-free gum, it is said to work great against remineralizing the enamel in your mouth. Xylitol is extensively researched and is said to have the ability to encourage the flow of saliva, minimize the production of S.mutans and raise the pH of the plaque.

Some of the gums include a special ingredient called CPP-ACP which is said to be working wonders even more than the gums that contain xylitol.
